Gyotaku of Acer Leaves in Black and Green/GoldJane Evans, a contemporary artist based on the island of Anglesey, has created a striking Gyotaku print that draws inspiration from both nature and traditional Japanese techniques. Measuring 35x42cm in size and presented unframed, this particular piece is a delicate yet visually captivating work rendered in black and gold. Its finished with a torn edge which is designed to be on show but if you prefer you can put it under a mount

A simple glue which I make myself if applied to the reverse of the print and a sheet of Masa paper is pressed on to it and left to dry

Once printed the paper is cockled and will not lie flat in a frame

It's a wonderful experience to wander around the harbour fish market and buy some of the days catch for dinner

offering a contemporary take on marine-inspired art
