Sugar Kelp

Sugar KelpThis print was made using a piece of sugar kelp collected during an exceptionally low tide on the Menai Strait, Anglesey. A marine biologist from Bangors School of Ocean Sciences helped me identify the right location and timing to gather it as sugar kelp grows further out and is only accessible at the lowest tides. This was actually made as a test print for two larger pieces which are now hanging in a beautiful restaurant called Vraic on the Island of

I've used Speedball Acrylic Ink and when the print was dry it was wet mounted using the Urauchi method to a second sheet of paper to give it strength and make it flat

I walk my dogs through Coed Cyrnol almost daily

The print is supplied framed as seen and measures 84cm x 49cm approx

The anchovy is used as a bait fish for catching sea bass
