Leonard Duracane Fly Rod 8' 2/2 #5An H. L. Leonard Duracane fly rod, 8' 2 piece, 2 tip, built for a #5 line. Serial #3242. Medium slow action for a 5 wt. Used but good condition, sections are straight, ferrule fits are good, and there are no hook digs. The serial # looks like a 1976 manufacture date. Impregnated cane with a dark straw temper color and three up node pattern construction. Dark brown wraps with black edges. An extra band of brown and black at the keeper, male ferrules

Some line whip marks near the stripping guide could use some attention

A pocket cap is soldered on at the bottom and is stamped "H

These reels were built for the tournament to help support the cause

Light yellow wraps are almost clear when varnished

The reel seat has a mortised burl walnut spacer under an oxidized cap and ring

This was also one of the late Marty Keane's favorite Leonard rods

Natural pot-bellied tight ferrules and lovely all-german nickel silver reel seat with hand soldered cap

I could find zero sign of any use except for the fact it is loaded with a line and backing
