Young, Paul H. -- Hazel Johnson Fly Tying ToolsThese fly tying tools belonged to Hazel Johnson, who tied flies for the Paul H. Young Rod Co. for ~ 30 years (and also performed the role of babysitter for Paul Jr. and Jack!) Hazel's son also told me that the great Ted Williams would come in the PHY Rod Co. shop and watch Hazel tie flies. These tools come directly from the Johnson family and a letter from Hazel's son will be included with the sale.

hollow-built bamboo rod - 265 cm

Rod shafts are wrapped green olive with brown olive intermediates

Cork seat with slide band and pocket cap

Blued guides with the exception of the agate stripping guide

Ruby-colored agate stripping guide

This is a 5/6 weight rod and is excellent for al around trout fishing

but not much - there is a little discoloring to the grip and a little brassing to inner guides - but otherwise in excellent condition

" The rod weighs 3 1/2 oz

MKII check with both pawls engageable

The aluminum downlocking screw lock has a plug that pulls out to allow for a fighting butt stored in the bottom of the rod bag
