Edward Vom Hofe early Model 423 Fly Reel - Size 5/0For sale here is an early model Edward Vom Hofe Model 423 fly reel (before it was called the Restigouche model, which was coined circa 1911). In this time period, the model was referred to as the "Celebrated Salmon and Grilse Click Reel". In the late 1800s this size (4 3 8" diameter) was designated as 5 0 (became size 6 0 circa 1911). The reel is in excellent original condition with no cracks in the hard rubber. This reel carries the Sep 2, 1879

KE Grow was the original owner of this rod and I received it directly from his son-in-law

making them suitable for both wet and dry style fishing

the celebration marks the 60th year that a monarch has reigned

Nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a beautiful mortised birds eye maple spacer

Red-felt lined

There is some very minor cracking in the varnish on some of the wraps near the ferrules (we call these casting cracks and love seeing them on the original Payne rods that have been used with care)
