COZs "VO" Vital Branco 2023The COZ project is a partnership of Tiago Teles of Gilda and RAIZ and Antonio Marques da Cruz of Serradinha (featured in November's Direct Press, he puts ladybugs on the corks). They joined forces in order to work the land of one of their winemaking heroes, Jose Mendona of Quinta dos Cozinheiros, who passed away tragically. The name COZ is taken from his winery. After a few vintages they acquired some more parcels in the Montejunto mountain range, a

windy conditions on Santorini but all of those things are infused with a palpable intensity due to the vitality required to survive in the rugged ash

He simultaneously had an admiration for the wines of the Jura region and he leapt at the opportunity to purchase a small amount of vines near the village of Arbois in the late 90’s before Jura had hit the level of popularity it’s experiencing at the moment

On five hectares of land the couple is experimenting with (for the area) rather uncommon Vinifera varieties such as Dornfelder and Savagnin as well as a variety of Hybrid grapes that hold up better to the extremes of the climate

Canada - and that means ongoing meticulous experimentation to showcase the Nordic terroir and climate of our neighbor north

It's meant to help small Kosher producers connect with congruous consumers who value transparency
